         Love God

                 Love His Church

Show His Love to the World

Love God

Love is often expressed between people through what we can see with our eyes, hear with our ears, and touch with our hands. Because of this, it is understandable for us to struggle in our humanity with how to go about loving God who is by nature spirit.

This is why Jesus continually taught the importance of faith. Through Jesus’ teachings, we understand that faith is the vehicle by which we know and love God. Loving God becomes a lifelong journey of faith wherein we learn to live in this physical world with spiritual eyes and hearts.

In order to love God we must first surrender in faith. This life of faith begins as we surrender our lives to Jesus Christ, and by faith trust in him alone to redeem us from our sin, and provide the hope of new life that is only found in Him.

Being surrendered in faith is only the beginning of the journey, a journey that leads us to become devoted to God in all of life. Our lives should be a dynamic process in which we deepen our love for God by taking consistent steps that will honor God and promote growth and health in our relationship with Him, and in living out His purposes for our lives.

Love His Church

God’s intention for humanity is not that we would function independent of one another, but that we exist in community with one another, complementing each other by the unique way in which we have been created. In the beginning God saw that Adam was alone and said, “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him” (Genesis 2:18). And just as God made Eve as a fit for Adam, he also builds His church with many people who uniquely fit together in love for the purpose of sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with a lost world.

The church is the vehicle that God has created and commissioned to fulfill His purposes in the world. It is not a building or a place in which we practice dead religious ritual, but a living body who proclaims the love of Jesus Christ by our love for one another.

Knowing this, we learn to live in community with one another, interdependent upon each other in the uniqueness of how God, in His infinite creativity, has crafted each one of us as a critical part of the church. Paul explained this well in his letter to the Corinthians in which he referred to the church as the body of Jesus Christ; made up of many people who are uniquely gifted for different functions. These individuals with their God-given gifts fit together to create a unique beauty that is only found in what God designs in His church.

We love His church through our participation in the life and work of His church. As we learn to live in community with others and exercise the unique gifts that God has given us, we become part of something far greater than ourselves with far greater purpose than we will ever find in this world.

Show His Love to the World

The purpose of our church will always move us beyond ourselves both as individuals and as a corporate body to fulfill the Great Commission that Jesus has given us (Matthew 28:18-20).

When Jesus took on human form and dwelt among us as a man, he demonstrated his love for the world by bringing a message of hope and salvation. He communicated that message to us both through words that he spoke, and through the deeds that he did to demonstrate and substantiate his message.

As His church, we teach of the message of Jesus Christ in word, and substantiate that message in deed.

When we consider how Jesus went about showing His love to the world, we find that he was intentional about reaching both His world and reaching around the world. As His church, our mission is the same. God has put people all around us that we come into contact with regularly, and we are committed to showing His love to them. In following his commission to “go and make disciples of all nations,” we are also committed to intentionally show His love to those around the world.
